Sarah Ryan, Chris Lofts and Christopher Townsend, Liberal Democrat candidates for GE2024

With the appointment of Sarah Ryan as Liberal Democrat candidate for Kettering, everyone in North Northamptonshire will have the opportunity to vote for a fairer Britain.

On Friday 24th May, Sarah Ryan was formally appointed as the final Liberal Democrat candidate in North Northamptonshire for the General Election. We have selected Sarah Ryan (Kettering), Chris Lofts (Corby and East Northamptonshire) and Christopher Townsend (Wellingborough and Rushden) for those constituencies fully within North Northamptonshire. For those parts of North Northamptonshire that previously or now fall under Daventry (which now extends as far around as Redhill Grange), Johnathan Harris will be the Liberal Democrat candidate, and Stewart Tolley will be campaigning to represent South Northamptonshire (which now extends to Bozeat). They and their teams will be out campaigning over the coming weeks to set out the Liberal Democrat vision for Britain - a Britain that is fairer, kinder and stronger. After so many years of Conservative neglect, the inequalities in our society are evident to everyone and our services are at breaking point. We have all heard complaints about waiting for hospital appointments, being unable to register with a GP or dentist, and the lack of affordable housing - even complaints about basic infrastructure like the state of our roads and the many potholes. But, it doesn't have to be this way.

The Liberal Democrats will, over the coming weeks, put forward a plan for Britain that will put us on a new course. Locally, it will mean building the homes we need, where we need them and with the services to support them. It will mean embracing the challenge of climate change by embedding environmentalism in all our policies. It will mean pushing for a new deal for doctors and dentists, to ensure people can get the care they need when they need it. It will mean engaging with our friends and partners in Europe, rebuilding important trade and cultural relationships that were too long damaged for cheap political gain. It will also mean a change in the way our Government works, so that these failures cannot go unchallenged for so long again, with a fairer voting system.

Our great candidates and their teams look forward to talking to as many people as we can over the coming weeks and setting forward the case for these changes. A vote for the Liberal Democrats on July 4th is a vote for a fairer Britain.
