Ana Savage Gunn has been re-selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the office of Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in Northamptonshire. “The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner could do so much more for our residents,” says Ana Savage Gunn. “In our communities I see what’s needed to support people. We all see it. There’s so much the Commissioner could do on the ground that isn’t being done.”

Ana Savage Gunn, who stood as the Liberal Democrat Candidate in the Wellingborough By-Election, is appalled by what she’s learned from that experience. “I am angry with politicians, the sleaze, the scandals. I’ve had enough. I am a woman of action. I walked the beat in the 80s, I was an international law enforcement consultant. During Covid I worked in my mum’s care home just so I could get to see her. Police and Fire need strong leadership. Morale is at an all time low and what they don’t need is another politician to lead them.”

“We need to see action on the ground, in our neighbourhoods and communities,” Savage Gunn adds, “The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has a substantial budget and it’s not clear to residents where the money is going. One area it should go to is youth work. We see the horrors of knife crime we need prevention as well as investigation. I’ve been to a Northamptonshire youth club run by volunteers who are doing their very best with no money from anywhere, not even to pay for the electricity at the hall.”

Ana Savage Gunn was born and raised in Northamptonshire, and brings a wealth of experience in public service and care with her. She joined Northamptonshire Police in 1985 and rose to the rank of Inspector, serving across the county and she supervised the tactical firearms team. In 1994, Ana helped run security at the Atlanta Olympics and a couple of years after this became a law enforcement consultant in the US before her return to the UK and Northamptonshire. When Covid-19 broke out Ana retrained as a Health Care Assistant and worked in her mother’s care home before becoming a Covid clinic coordinator in the county. Ana continues to work at the care home, and is a trustee of Northamptonshire Carers.

Ana Savage Gunn stood for Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner in 2021 achieving 15% of the vote.
